That "9 Months Pregnant" Thing...

Still feeling relatively well and maternity clothes free! Although, after a weekend full of "friend Friday", Fado's til nearly closing time, my last baby shower, and another party Saturday night, I can officially say that I no longer have the skinniest ankles out of anyone I know. [Enter frowny face] So, I spent my Sunday being a bum which included taking this picture, having brunch at Mosaic from 1-3:30 followed by appetizers at Bistro Niko from 3:30 until 7. It was a much enjoyed Sunday and Matt enjoyed his little break from partying.

Gettin' Bigga

Me and the baby at 32 weeks. Wonder what Matt's doing these days? According to a week-by-week website: He's busy blinking, looking around, grabbing things, making faces, practicing his breathing, taking bathroom breaks, and listening to everything around him.

28th Week

Here's the belly shot @ 28 weeks. I'm getting bigger, but can still wear all my normal clothes (just can't button/zipper the waist). Matt's moving around a lot, still at night mostly. He's slow to wake up in the morning; he'll do a little stretch here and there, pushing his foot or hands against my hips. Still a cutie!

The 24 Weeker

I finally look pregnant and not just like a pudgy skinny person! Woohoo! Feeling like a no-bun-in-the-oven girl with a belly wasn't fun, trust me. But now that it doesn't take a scientist to figure out there's a baby in my belly makes me feel better. Luckily, I can still wear my regular clothes sans buttoning my jeans, but whatever... my tanktops and shirts are usually long enough to cover my open zipper. Noone's told me to XYZ yet, so that's a good sign. I still feel like a regular person - no sickness, full energy, eating the usual, and even my face is looking better. Can't complain - Matt's making life easy for his mama right now!

Life according to Matt:
Baby's ears are fully functional now and loud noises and sudden movements can startle the little bugger. He's getting used to the everyday sounds. Since he's got a fully developed inner ear, his sense of balance is working and he can tell whether he's hanging upside down or right side up.

Half Baked

I'm half way through the pregnancy at 20 weeks now. Things seem to be going well, still! Here's a cool highlight of what's going on in Matt's world:

Your baby has established sleep patterns akin to a newborn now. Most babies even have a favorite sleep position already. Many at this age fall into noticeable cycles of sleep and activity, so you may know before it arrives whether you have a night owl or an early bird.

He loves to move around at night, so it looks like we'll be wide awake for late nighters (I suppose that's good news for our friends). He also seems to already have his favorite sleeping position down based on his ultrasounds - he loves to sleep with his hands on his chest, which I find hilarious since that's how JB sleeps. (The other way JB sleeps is with his arms behind his head... we don't know if Matt's mastered that yet or not.)

Here's the obligatory monthly shot:

The 16 Weeker

Here I am in all my morning glory -- sheet marks, strange red dots and all.

The Last Bit of the 1st Trimester

Today marks the start of week 12 - the last week of the first trimester. I've gained about 6 pounds, give or take, and didn't have any of those horrific pregnancy symptoms. The only things I had were 2-minute-lasting nausea in the evening, then slight headaches that come and go, and then fatigue this last week. The worst I've had is breaking out on my face, but that's what make-up is made for.

There's a website that's not cheesy about describing what's going on with Baby B that I look at every few weeks. Here are some clips from the site:

Baby's face is looking more human as his eyes have moved to the front of his head and his ears are in place. (That's nice.)

Your baby is able to swallow this week and practices swimming in the fluid he or she floats in. And in case you're wondering how your kid can breathe in all that fluid, here's your answer: Fetuses get oxygen from the blood pumped into their bodies by the placenta and don't breathe with their lungs. (Mystery solved...)

Your little nugget's finger- and toenails are forming this week. The chin and nose are also becoming more defined. (A nose like mine or Jason's?)

Junior has doubled in size over the past two weeks and now weighs almost ½ ounce. He's also now around 2 ½ inches long, about the length of your pinky finger or a Vienna sausage.

High five to you, Baby B.
